Blackwell Miners Welfare Cricket Club
The workshops have now taken place at the Blackwell Miners Welfare Cricket Club and the completed film has been presented to the Club.

The film was made by members of newly recruited junior cricket team. They became the Sidelinez Media Squad and worked with Tony Judge and Martin Blackham of Creative Forum to document a very special celebratory event. In 1910, 100 years ago, a World Record was set at the club by Arnold Warren and John Chapman for a 9th wicket partnership of 283 against Warwickshire. The highlight of the event was a Twenty/20 competition between Derbyshire County Cricket Club and the Blackwell team.

The Sidelinez Media Squad worked brilliantly together and took part in all aspects of the filming. They were confident interviewers, even with the Derbyshire players, and soon learnt how to use a professional camera and the sound equipment.

The final workshop involved the junior team interviewing and filming the Deputy Leader of Bolsover District Council, Cllr. Alan Tomlinson, about the role he played in organising the centenary event and the importance to the community of such celebrations. Again, the young people set the questions and took charge of the filming, lighting and sound equipment.

The film is now available to view online. www.junctionarts.org and click on the You Tube button. The Media Squad have been presented with their own copy and a Junction Arts Certificate of Achievement.
