Chesterfield & District Athletics Club

Frank Gorman from Chesterfield and District Athletics Club contacted Junction Arts and asked if the Sidelinez project could support them to make a film that tells the story of the club’s success.

There is much to celebrate. The club began in 1978 and has one of the top 10 young athletics teams in the North of England. With around 150 members, they were voted ‘England Athletics Club of the Year’ in 2008. The club has gone from strength to strength for over 30 years, consistently nurturing young athletes, training new coaches and maintaining a strong core team of volunteers.

Filming is nearing completion and involved some of the younger members not only talking to camera about why they joined and what they love about the club, but also getting involved with the actual film making process.
